Does converting to JPG reduce image quality?
Slightly. JPG is a lossy format, so there is a small quality reduction during conversion. This tool uses a 92% quality setting, which produces JPG files that are visually indistinguishable from the original in normal viewing. For most uses — social media, email, printing — the difference is imperceptible.
What happens to transparency in my HEIC image?
JPG does not support transparency. If your HEIC image has transparent areas, they will be filled with a white background in the converted JPG. If you need to preserve transparency, convert to PNG instead.
Will the file size increase after conversion?
Usually, yes. HEIC achieves roughly 50% smaller file sizes than JPG at the same quality. When you convert to JPG, the file size will typically increase. The exact amount depends on the image content — photos with lots of detail will see a larger increase than simple images.
